How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character

Our Last Best Shot:  A fabulous look at the lives of 12 different middle schoolers by reporter and parent Laura Sessions.  One of the most informative books on middle school students out there and very entertaining to read!

Not Much Just Chillin:  A more contemporary version of Our Last Best Shot by education reporter Linda Perlstein.  Less comprehensive than Our Last Best Shot but still very informative and thought provoking.

The Middle School Mind:  A great look at what is happening inside the middle school student’s brain with many actual stories as illustrations.  Worthwhile if you are really wanting to understand the behavior of a middle school student and how that is driven by what is (or is not) happening inside the student’s brain!  Written by Dr. Richard Marshall and Sharon Neuman.
